Mother's Day Tea

Friday at school was the annual Mother's Day Tea for Pre-K and Kindergarten. We were only told to dress up, as fancy as we like and to show up at 8:30. "I" was so excited on the days leading up to Friday! He said that it was a secret. Looking back, I wish I had taken more time and found something more "formal" to wear. Thursday night we (me and Daddy) took him to Kohl's to find a shirt to go with a pair of khaki dress pants he had. He had other ideas! As we were walking through the boys section, he found a suit hanging up and asked if he could try it on. I (to myself of course) rolled my eyes and said sure. I had NO intention whatsoever of buying the suit!!!

Needless to say, that was BEFORE he tried the suit on. We came home with the suit. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen! So, we loaded up the suit and looked for "tap dancing" shoes to match. That is what he called the black dress shoes. He actually asked if we could get tap dancing shoes and insisted that the ones we got were just that!

Friday morning we got up, got dressed and headed to school. He was the most handsome date EVER.

We were running late so I just grabbed a few shots as quick as I could.

The lighting is not fantastic but the kid is precious.

He loves to pose. heehee

And after the last pictures I took of him, I thought he had outgrown the cheesy smile pictures. I was wrong.

We were late getting to school so the kids were already practicing their songs so I hurried him in and ran to the gym to grab a seat. A few minutes later, all of the children headed into the gym for their performance. I did not see my little guy until the teacher followed, holding his hand, him crying. I thought maybe he was hurt or something happened. Apparently the small close crowd was a bit too much for him to handle so he sat next to me while the other kids sang. I will admit, I was disappointed. I had already figured out a way to work both my camera and the video camera. I was ready to capture all of that cuteness on film. Oh well...there's always next time, right? *sigh*

After the kids sang, we headed into the cafeteria where the tables were lined with plastic tablecloths and set with paper plates of fruit, pastries, quiches, and tortilla rolls. The centerpieces were our kids old shoes which had been painted and bedazzled and were holding colorful flowers. It was priceless.

It was by far my best date ever and I am so blessed to have been able to spend the morning with my precious little guy. After breakfast, the teachers passed out cards that the children had made. It was a fill in the blank book for the kids to answer questions. It is the best card I have ever gotten.

I am beyond blessed to be my children's mother. I could not have hand picked better kids. I love each of them with all that I am. Thank you God for trusting me with these precious little blessings.
