The Sheriff's back in town...

and he sure is cute!

Last week at Boog's school, they had western days. They could choose to wear their cowboy/cowgirl get up any day they wanted. I asked Boog all week if he wanted to wear his cowboy outfit (not that we have a cowboy outfit, but I was willing to go out and buy one!) and he continued day after day saying, "Nah, that's ok. I don't want to. Fair enough, some kids do not want to be cowboys, I am ok with that.

Enter Thursday night already way past bedtime and Boog in his sweetest little brother voice ever says, "Sour Apple, (and no he did not really call him that)can I borrow your cowboy hat tomorrow? I'm going to dress up like a cowboy!" WHAT?!? Are you flippin' kidding me? It is 9:30pm on the evening before the last day of school for the week. I am freakin out. You have got to be kidding me, seriuosly, you want to dress up tomorrow? I have been practically begging you all week and you have been saying no. Great, just great. Ok...humm, mind goes into over drive.

When the older kids were younger, I think starting in Kindergarten, they had Go Texan Days at school and every year we would trod off to the local western store and buy 2 pairs of boots, 2 hats (sometimes), western jeans and shirts, sometimes belts too. Occasionally they wore them after the fact, if we went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo but generally we were good for a few wears in our new "cowboy/cowgirl get ups" so I felt justified. Anything to make my babies happy. So...anyone that knows me, knows that I "save" things. Ok, well on this particular occasion, all I can find are a small pair of PINK cowgirl boots! Great, just great. We found Sour Apple's hat, I dug around everywhere I could think of, no boots, I did manage to find a little leather vest that must have been Sour Apple's when he was younger, in the top of Boog's closet. We threw together a shirt, with pearl buttons, some jeans and a pair of Timberland boot shoes with the hat and viola...

Meet the Sherriff. I must say...he is pretty darned cute, even with no official cowboy get up. By the way, I am afraid to continue looking too hard for the boots because you know that I will find them! :) The first few pics are from my phone so the quality is not as good but the smiles were way better and that always wins!

Reach for the sky!
